A TEENAGER breathalysed after police stopped a car on the road where he lived later claimed he had not been the driver.
Abdul Kamali, 19, of Glenfield Close, Blackburn, was convicted in his absence by the town's magistrates of driving with excess alcohol and without insurance. He was fined £180 with £30 victim surcharge and £620 costs and banned from driving for 14 months.
Tracy Yates, prosecuting, said police followed a car onto Glenfield Close and saw Kamali get out of the driver's door.
He provided a positive roadside sample and a sample at the police station which gave a reading of 44 against the legal limit of 35.
Gaffer Khan, defending, said his client had always maintained he wasn't the driver and the police had been mistaken.
