ONE of East Lancashire’s most popular events will return for the August Bank Holiday weekend.

The Great British Food Festival will set up at Stonyhurst College in the Ribble Valley. More than 10,000 people descended on the historic school last year to sample goods from 70 traders.

Among them were artisan food producers and street food vendors, with tasty treats to enjoy at the popular event including pulled pork, steak, ostrich burgers, Thai and Caribbean food.

This year’s line-up includes more than 80 producers and street food vendors and there will be talks, children’s cookery lessons, live music, man versus food challenges, a cake-off competition and a new BBQ stage.

As well as wonderful food and drink producers, there will be headline chef demos, food talks and live music to enjoy on the lawns.

Dan Maycock, festival director, said: “We’re thrilled to be back at Stonyhurst. It’s always a lovely event, with a great crowd and we are really keen to push things on for 2019. We will have more activities going on and a great line-up of chefs.”

The festival will start on Saturday, August 24.
