ORGANISERS of a fundraising event who were left devastated when burglars broke into their home stealing raffle prizes and donations have thanked supporters after they managed to raise a whopping £20,000 for charity.
Sharon Hacking, had been collecting raffle prizes, money and donations for a Ladies Who Lunch event, in aid of brain tumour charity, In Between Ears.
But at the end of February, all the donations were stolen when Mrs Hacking's home was burgled.
At the time, Mrs Hacking was unsure whether the Ladies Lunch, would go ahead, but thanks to an army of good Samaritans, replacement prizes and donations were gathered just in time, and the event, which was held at Burnley Football Club on April 7, was hailed a huge success.
Mrs Hacking said: “I just want to say a massive thank you to everyone who donated extra prizes and everyone who came on the day. People were so generous after the burglary that we ended up with an abundance of items and raised £20,022.90."
