THE countdown is on for award winning Horwich Amateur Theatre Society's big day!

Final preparations are now underway for its next production The Wedding Singer.

The hilarious musical comedy opens at Bolton Little Theatre later this month.

The Wedding Singer is based on the Adam Sandler film of the same name.

Lorraine Sullivan from the theatre company said: "In The Wedding Singer it's 1985 and rock-star wannabe Robbie Hart is New Jersey's favourite wedding singer.

"He's the life of the party-until his own fiancée leaves him at the altar.

"Shot through the heart, Robbie makes every wedding he plays as disastrous as his own.

"Enter Julia, a winsome waitress who wins his affection. Only trouble is Julia is about to be married to a Wall Street shark, and unless Robbie can pull off the performance of the decade, the girl of his dreams will be gone forever. With a brand new score that pays loving homage to the pop songs of the 1980s, The Wedding Singer takes us back to a time when hair was big, greed was good, collars were up, and a wedding singer just might be the coolest guy in the room."

Horwich Amateur Theatre Society won the best musical at both the Bolton Amateur Theatre awards and the NODA Region 5 awards for their 2018 production of the rock opera Rent.

So audiences are in for a real treat as they sit back and enjoy the hits of the 80s including "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic", The Police; "How Soon Is Now?", performed by The Smiths , "Love My Way", performed by The Psychedelic Furs and many more.

"Rapper's Delight" (medley), performed by Sugarhill Gang and Ellen Dow

Tickets for The Wedding Singer are £13 each and available online at www.boltonlittletheatre.co.uk
