A FIGHT broke out in Bolton town centre and a brick was hurled through a pub window in two separate incidents this morning.

Police were called to a brawl in Bradshawgate at about 6am.

Officers said they received reports of "numerous people fighting in Bradshawgate."

Earlier in the morning they were called to Nelson Square after a brick was hurled through the window of The Dragonfly.

Police arrested a man for criminal damage to a pub window and he remains in custody.

A member of staff at The Dragonfly, who did not want to be named, said: "We refused entry to a man, who then threw a brick through the window of the premises between 1.30am and 2am this morning.

"We called the police and they arrived very quickly.

"A man, aged in his late 20s or early 30s, was arrested."

They added: "We are just glad that no one was hurt.

"We have a really good door team who have a lot of experience.

"The venues in Bolton are also really good at working together.

"Over the past 18 months there have been huge improvements in the town centre. The Pubwatch scheme is also really good.

"It is a shame when things like this happen but the incident this morning was handled really well and there was a quick response."
