THREE people were evacuated from a house in Horwich following a bin fire.
The blaze started in a wheelie bin in Wright Street, and spread to the outhouse of a terraced property.
Crews from Bolton Central, Bolton North and Horwich fire stations were called to the incident shortly before 4.30am today.
The fire service has advised residents to check that they have working smoke alarms.
Paula Lyons, watch manager at Bolton Central fire station, said: "The fire caused smoke damage to the internal wall of the property.
"Three people were evacuated from the house that adjoined the outhouse.
"We used hose reels to extinguish the flames.
"We would like to remind people of the importance of testing their smoke alarms to ensure they are working and to be mindful of storing bins close to their properties."
Crews remained at the site until about 5.45am.
