THIEVES were caught “red-handed” as they tried to flee with a selection of construction tools.

A police inspector stopped two offenders in their tracks as they made off with two power drills and a large selection of carpentry goods in a shopping trolley.

Police have appealed for anyone living in the Stoneyside Grove area of Walkden, and who is missing the items, to contact them.

Greater Manchester Police’s Swinton and Little Hulton team posted on social media about the incident: “Do you live around the Stoneyside Grove area of Walkden?

“Have you woken up to your tools and livelihood missing?

“A new response inspector for Salford, Insp Smith caught two offenders red-handed pushing these down Whittle Street in a shopping trolley.

“We're keen to speak to and locate the owner of these items.”
