TRAINS have started running again through seven stations after a broken down train caused delays this morning.
From 10am, services from Wigan Wallgate to Manchester Victoria via Walkden were likely to be cancelled, diverted or delayed.
This meant no trains stopped at Atherton, Walkden, Daisy Hill, Hag Fold, Walsden, Moorside or Swinton station.
Engineers at Northern quickly dealt with the issue, removing the faulty train from a section of track near to Atherton Train Station at around 10.45am.
A spokesman for the train company, which operates the majority of Bolton’s services, said: “Passenger are advised to listen for announcements and check information screens for updates where possible for your service today.”
Any passengers who suffer delays or 15 minutes or more can seek compensation through the recently launched Delay Repay programme.
