EMERGENCY services were called to a head-on smash between two cars on Sunday evening.
Police, paramedics and fire and rescue staff were called to the scene outside of the Old Mother Redcap pub on Blackburn Road, Oswaldtwistle at around 7pm.
Two cars were involved and cutting equipment was used to release two casualties from inside one of the cars.
One person was taken to hospital and traffic was diverted around the incident as the rescue took place.
A Lancashire Fire and Rescue spokesman said: “Two cars were involved and we had to cut the roof from one of the cars to free two people from inside.”
An eye-witness at the scene said: “I don’t know how the crash happened, I just saw all of the commotion on the street.
“People were panicking and calling the police.
“They arrived moments later with the paramedics and firefighters. It was very worrying watching the firefighters cutting people out.” An ambulance service spokesman said: “One casualty was taken to hospital."
