Fourth drink driving offence

A DRIVER has been banned from holding a licence for five years after magistrates were told it was his fourth drink driving offence.

At Bolton Magistrates’ Court Mohammed Bari, aged 36, of Walmersley Road, Bury, was found guilty of committing his most recent offence in a Mercedes at McDonalds, Fletcher Street, Bolton on July 23.

He had denied committing the crime.

Bari was sentenced to six months in prison, suspended for 24 months and was ordered to do 200 hours of unpaid work.

In addition he must participate in a thinking skills programme for 25 days and 20 days of rehabilitation activities.

When his driving ban ends Bari must undertake an extended retest to regain his licence.

Magistrates ordered him to pay a total of £735 in costs and charges.

Woman let dog suffer

A WOMAN who caused a dog to suffer has been banned from keeping animals for 10 years.

Bolton magistrates heard how the dog, named Roco, was in a poor condition but Jasmine Swingwood had failed to seek veterinary help in November last year.

Swingwood, aged 24, of Hillview Court, Astley Bridge, pleaded guilty to committing the offence and not ensuring the dog was kept in a clean, unmatted condition.

Magistrates sentenced her to carry out 40 hours of unpaid work and participate in five days of rehabilitation activities. She was also ordered to pay £885 in costs and charges.

Banned from the roads

A DRINK driver has been banned from the roads for 12 months after he pleaded guilty.

Rodney Kearns, aged 61, of Alderton Drive, Westhoughton, initially denied committing the offence, but then changed his plea.

Bolton magistrates heard how he was over the alcohol limit when he drove a Nissan Qashqai on Chorley Road, Bolton on July 12 last year.

Kearns was fined £270 and ordered to pay £330 in costs and charges.

Unpaid work for assault man

MAGISTRATES have sentenced a man to do 150 hours of unpaid work after he pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman on November 8 last year.

Yazid Zarin, aged 22, of Salterton Drive, Bolton, was also ordered to participate in 15 days of rehabilitation activities and pay £300 in costs and compensation.

Fined for dumping waste

A WOMAN has been fined £40 by Bolton magistrates after she pleaded guilty to dumping bags of waste behind her home in Clarke Street.

Alexandra Pompova, aged 24, was also ordered to pay £234 in costs and charges.

Rubbish fly-tipped behind house

A MAN who dumped a box and two black bags of rubbish at the rear of his home has been fined £220 by Bolton magistrates.

The case against Jake Longworth, aged 26, of Hatfield Road, Bolton, was proved in his absence.

He was also ordered to pay £759 in costs and charges.

Offensive phone call

A MAN who made offensive phone calls to a woman on February 20 has been fined £80 by Bolton magistrates.

Michael Howarth, aged 51, of Brian Road, Farnworth, pleaded guilty when he appeared in court.

He was also ordered to pay £115 in costs and charges and a restraining order was made banning him from contacting his victim or going to Riverside Drive, Radcliffe.

Assault man ordered to do unpaid work

MAGISTRATES have ordered a man to do 150 hours of unpaid work after he admitted assaulting a woman on September 16 last year.

Shamas Ahmed, aged 26, of Ainsdale Road, Bolton, was given a community sentence which includes participating in 25 days of rehabilitation activities.

The court also ordered him to pay £170 in costs and charges plus £100 in compensation to his victim.

A restraining order was made banning him from contacting the woman or going to Crumpsall Street, Bolton.

Handbag thief jailed

A THIEF who stole handbags, epilators and glue pens has been jailed for for six weeks by Bolton magistrates.

Vincent Place, aged 37, of Spinningfields, Bolton, pleaded guilty to committing the offences.

The court heard he stole five Fiorelle bags, worth a total of £175, from TK Maxx on January 30, two epilators, valued at £200, from Superdrug on February 2 and glue pens, worth £53, from The Range on March 8.

Place was on licence from prison at the time he committed the offences.

In addition to the jail sentence, he was ordered to pay a £115 victim surcharge.

Conditional discharge for assault man

MAGISTRATES have sentenced a man to a conditional discharge for six months after he pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman and resisting a police officer in June last year.

Joshua Berry, aged 22, of Beechcroft Avenue, Bolton, was also ordered to pay £105 in costs and charges.

Drug driver fined

A DRUG driver has been fined £173 by Bolton magistrates.

Mohammed Ali, aged 23, of Grafton Street, Bolton, admitted driving an Audi A3 on Chorley New Road, Bolton, on October 28 last year after using cannabis.

He was also banned from holding a licence for 12 months and was ordered to pay £115 in costs and charges.

Drink driver banned from the roads

A MAN has been banned from the roads for 18 months after he was caught drink driving.

At Bolton Magistrates' Court John Taylor, aged 34, of Netherfield Road, Great Lever, pleaded guilty to committing the offence when driving a VW Golf on Ainsdale Road, Great Lever, on February 22.

The court heard that he had drunk more than twice the legal alcohol limit.

In addition to the driving ban, Taylor was fined £115 and ordered to pay £115 in costs and charges.

Pensioner harassed neighbour

A PENSIONER who harassed a female neighbour by sending her numerous abusive, offensive and racist letters has been fined £100 by Bolton magistrates.

Elaine Hodkinson, aged 65, of Tithe Barn Street, Westhoughton, pleaded guilty to committing the offence between September last year and February

21.

Hodkinson was ordered to have treatment for alcohol addiction for six months and must also participate in rehabilitation activities for 15 days.

She was also told she must pay £170 in costs and charges and a restraining order was made banning her from contacting Sherryl Kikigue or going to her home.

Police officer assaulted

A WOMAN who assaulted a female police officer has been fined by Bolton magistrates.

Linda Davidson, aged 51, of Carmel Crescent, Bolton, pleaded guilty to committing the offence in Swinton on February 20.

The court fined her £100 and sentenced her to a community order.

As part of the order she must participate in rehabilitation activities for 15 days.

She was also ordered to pay her victim £200 in compensation and pay £85 towards prosecution costs.

Cash box thief spared jail

A BURGLAR who stole a cash box from a bridal shop has been given a suspended prison sentence by Bolton magistrates.

David McGrail, aged 42, of Bradford Street, Bolton, pleaded guilty to stealing a cash box, containing £20, from Glamour Brides, Bolton, on July 18 last year.

The court heard that McGrail was on licence for other offences when he committed the crime.

He was sentenced to 18 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months.

Magistrates also ordered him to participate in rehabilitation activities for 15 days, pay the shop £160 in compensation and pay £85 towards prosecution costs.

Shoplifter stole coffee

A SHOPLIFTER has been fined £80 by Bolton magistrates after she admitted stealing coffee, worth £53, from the Tesco supermarket in Market Street, Little Lever on February 15.

Nicola Longworth, aged 34, of Queen Street, Farnworth, was also ordered to pay $85 towards prosecution costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Fined for possessing cannabis

MAGISTRATES have fined a man £80 after he was caught in possession of cannabis in Bolton on October 31.

At Bolton Magistrates’ Court Scott Hughes, aged 29, of Seddon Street, Little Hulton, pleaded guilty to committing the offence.

In addition to the fine, he was ordered to pay an £85 towards prosecution costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Unpaid work for Mercedes driver

A DRIVER who stole a Mercedes and was involved in an accident in which a person was injured, has been ordered to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work by Bolton magistrates.

Casey Green, aged 18, of Appledore Drive, Bolton, pleaded guilty to committing the offence, drink driving and having no insurance while driving the vehicle on Crompton Way on March 3.

He was ordered to pay £170 in costs and charges and was banned from the roads for 12 months.

Teenager took VW Golf

A TEENAGER who stole a black VW Golf in Bolton on February 26 has been sentenced to do 80 hours of unpaid work by Bolton magistrates.

Stephen Critchley, aged 18, of Higher Swan Lane, Bolton, pleaded guilty to committing the offence and driving the vehicle on Blethyn Street, Bolton, without a licence or insurance.

In addition to the unpaid work, which is part of a 12 month community order, Critchley was ordered to pay £85 towards prosecution costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

Critchley was also banned from applying for a driving licence for six months.

Banned driver used car

A BANNED driver has been sentenced to do 80 hours unpaid work after he admitted committing a series of motoring offences in a Toyota Yaris on Derby Street, Bolton, on November 7 last year.

At Bolton Magistrates’ Court Bilal Ashraf, aged 23, of Croston Street, Daubhill, pleaded guilty to driving while banned and without insurance, not wearing a seat belt, using a vehicle with an illegal tyre and failing to surrender to court. He was banned from applying for a driving licence for two years, must participate in a thinking skills programme for 19 days and rehabilitation activities for 20 days and pay £170 in costs and charges.

Drink driver fined

A DRINK driver has been fined £120 by Bolton magistrates.

Andrea Lee, aged 32, of Roseneath Road, Great Lever, denied committing the offence while driving a Hyundai Tucson on Stewart Avenue, Farnworth, on December 2 last year, but she was found guilty after a trial.

In addition to the fine, Lee was ordered to pay £380 in costs and charges and was banned from driving for 12 months.

Man sent menacing message

MAGISTRATES have fined a man £100 after he sent an indecent or menacing message in July last year.

Michael Rigby, aged 37, of Stoneycroft Avenue, Horwich, pleaded guilty to committing the offence.

In addition to the fine, Rigby was ordered to pay £230 in costs and charges and a restraining order was made banning him from contacting his victim.

Shoplifter stole drills

A SHOPLIFTER who twice stole drills, worth £130, from B&Q in Bolton, has been jailed for 24 weeks.

Bolton magistrates heard how Lee Bennett, aged 39, of Duke Street. Bolton, stole the first of the drills on March 5, just a day after he had been given a suspended sentence for theft.

Bennett was also ordered to pay £130 in compensation.

Couple banned from keeping animals

MAGISTRATES have sentenced a man and a woman to a conditional discharge for two years and banned them from keeping animals for 10 years.

Ruth Baptista, aged 53 and Paul Kisilevych, aged 51, both of Anfield Road, Bolton, pleaded guilty to causing suffering to a German Shepherd named Sasha.

They failed to provide veterinary care for the dog, which was in pain.

They were each ordered to pay £300 in prosecution costs and a £20 victim surcharge.

Shoplifter had knife

A SHOPLIFTER who was armed with a knife stole alcohol worth £42 from the Co-op in Bolton on February 10.

At Bolton Magistrates’ Court Anthony Adams, aged 31, of Allerton Court, School Hill, pleaded guilty to theft and possessing a knife.

The court heard that he was under the influence of drugs at the time.

Magistrates jailed him for 20 weeks and he was ordered to pay a £115 victim surcharge.

Driver had taken cannabis

A DRUG driver has been banned from holding a driving licence for 12 months.

At Bolton Magistrates’ Court Richard Doherty, aged 32, of Lansdowne Road, Bolton, pleaded guilty to driving a VW Passat on Lansdowne Road on October 27 last year after using cannabis.

He was fined £120 plus £115 in costs and charges.
