A MEMORIAL event will take place this Friday to commemorate the lives lost in Christchurch.
Community member of Blackburn Women’s Forum, Sarah Subhani organised the event called Holding Hands for Friday March 22 at 12pm outside the Blackburn Town Hall.
The event aims to get the people of Blackburn united by laying flowers and holding hands to demonstrate solidarity among the wake of the Christchurch terrorist attack.
Mrs Subhani said: “The theme of the event is friendship not fear, in support of the victims and family of Christchurch.
“Also, as it’s coming up to Ramadan the mosque will be full and my son who is 20 is worried, but if Blackburn community can come together to fight fear, it counter acts both sides of fear.”
Mrs Subhani will be joined by other members of the forum to promote togetherness during the difficult time, as they welcome everyone in Blackburn to attend.
A minute silence was also held Monday March 18 to honour the victims and their families.
