A MOTHER who let her home be used to produce cannabis has been spared jail.

Police raided a house in Pendle Street, Accrington, belonging to Shamsa and her husband Imtiaz Hussain in March last year.

Officers found a box containing cocaine and cannabis.

The tub, which contained a shoebox inside a carrier bag, had 11.9 grams of cocaine and 26 grams of cannabis, worth £1300 in total.

As well as a box containing drugs, officers found a shotgun which had been stolen from someone in October 2017 and a small cannabis set up in one of the bedrooms containing four adult plants and a number of seedlings.

During sentencing last month, Imtiaz of Monk Street, Accrington, pleaded guilty to possession of class A and B drugs with intent to supply both, possession of a 12 gauge shotgun without a certificate as well as possession of class B drugs and escaping custody and was sentenced to four-and-a-half years in prison.

Shamsa, 23, of India Street, Accrington, who gave birth to her son in November, had pleaded guilty to permitting her premises to be used for producing cannabis and was yesterday given a condition discharge, ordered to play £150 prosecution costs and a statutory surcharge.
