A PRIMARY school in Little Lever is a happy school, where staff enjoying working and pupil have excellent attitudes to learning.

Bownes Primary School was one of three schools to be celebrated by Bolton Council's children's services which announced the latest batch of schools to receive a good mark from Ofsted.,

St John the Evangelist RC Primary School in Bromley Cross and St Ethelbert's RC Primary School in Deane.

Bowness Primary School's Ofsted report stated: "This is a happy school. Staff enjoy working at Bowness Primary, and pupils love learning.Personal development and welfare are outstanding.

"Pupils have excellent attitudes to learning and show great care and respect for each other and the adults who teach them."

St John the Evangelist RC was said to be one where "pupils are happy in lessons and are proud to be members of the school.

The head was found to "lead a dedicated staff who are determined to develop their skills and improve standards even further."

Ofsted reported: "Parents and carers who spoke to me at the start of the school day, have an overwhelmingly positive view of the school. "They were very keen to describe how much they value the school’s ‘open door policy’"

At St Ethelbert's RC Ofsted reported: "Pupils are proud of their school and enjoy their learning.They wear their uniform with pride. Pupils understand the meaning behind the school logo on their sweaters and know how it links to the whole-school values that they hold so dear."
