SHOCKED shoppers witnessed casualties emerging from the former BHS store on Victoria Square earlier today.

Some had bandaged heads and arms, while others had stitches.

But there was no need to worry because they were actors filming scenes for the new Sky drama series, COBRA.

The store has been transformed into a hospital for the cameras and Trainspotting star Robert Carlyle filmed scenes there.

One extra told The Bolton News: “He plays the prime minister. The scene we shot involved him visiting victims after a plane had crashed onto their town.”

He added: “I didn’t get a chance to speak to him but he seemed nice enough on set.”

The drama series has been created and written by Ben Richards, who has also written episodes of Fortitude and The Tunnel.

It will be screened later this year.

COBRA is based on the real-life government organisation that responds to emergency situations and national crises.

A show spokesman said: “We’ll see how a government works under extreme pressure to make difficult decisions quickly.”
