A COMMUNITY cafe which supports people with disabilities has been boosted by a homebuilder to help provide new cooking equipment.

Taylor Wimpey Manchester has donated £150 to Connecting Together in Golborne, which offers care and recreational facilities to its service users.

The group aims to tackle loneliness in all its forms in the town.

Catherine Sudworth from Connecting Together, said: “We’re very thankful to Taylor Wimpey for this generous and helpful donation.

“Isolation can have a big impact on mental health and is devastating for people who feel segregated from the town they live in.

“We’ve already seen the benefits and lots of people building friendships within the community since we launched.

"We’re excited to continue our work with all members and partners.”

Taylor Wimpey also donated 25 per cent of the cafe's crowdfunding target in 2017 to get it up and running.

Sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey Manchester Chloe Dunn added: “Connecting Together is a fantastic care group who play a vital part in the Golborne community.

“After our initial donation a couple of years ago, we saw what a positive impact initiatives like this can have and were keen to work with the organisation again.

“Loneliness is such an important issue to recognise in any community, and we were only too happy to support the café, especially due to its proximity to our Rothwells Farm development. “
