A COUPLE have appeared before Blackburn magistrates after they were allegedly seen having sex in a van in the presence of a two-year-old child.

The court was told Georgina Bray was seen performing a sex act on Carl Stoiles before engaging in sexual intercourse with him in the van in Brownhill Avenue, Burnley. The incident is said to have happened on Wednesday.

Bray 36, and Stoiles, 37, both of Fielden Street, Burnley, are jointly charged with being drunk in charge of a child under seven years of age, outraging public decency by engaging in sexual activity in a vehicle in clear view of passers by, engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child and failing to provide a specimen of breath for analysis.

Stoiles is charged alone with dangerous driving on Carholme Avenue, Brownhill Avenue, Stroyan Street, Irene Street and Chatburn Avenue, Burnley, and assaulting a police officer with intent to resist arrest.

Both pleaded not guilty to all the charges put to them and were sent to Burnley Crown Court to stand trial.

Stoiles was remanded in custody until March 15 and Bray on bail to the same date.
