A WOMAN worked a three pronged scam in a Blackburn town centre store.

Blackburn magistrates heard she stole an item returned it to the store and exchanged it and then went back again with the product and the exchange receipt for which she received a £77 cash refund.

The court heard that four days later she returned to Wilko in King William Street and attempted to repeat the fraud but was detained by security staff.

Charlotte Cooke, 30, now of Atherton Road, Wigan, but formerly of Mornington Road, Bolton, pleaded guilty to theft on October 5 and two charges of fraud by false representation - one on October 5 and the other on October 9.

She was fined £200 with £85 costs, £30 victim surcharge and £77 compensation.
