FOLLOWING the success of the Brexit referendum, I'd like to suggest we adopt a similar approach to all future elections.
In each constituency or ward, there will be a simple choice between a Conservative candidate and a not-the-Conservatives-candidate.
The Conservative Party will present a clear manifesto, while the other side will simply say "not that" and promise whatever their current audience wants to hear.
When, as I suspect Not the Conservatives wins, we can have a simple debate about what it means in practice, helped along by everyone who voted "not" knowing exactly what they wanted, but not all wanting the same thing.
I suspect the Conservative Party might consider this problematic, but those who live by the sword . . .
