THE doctor who got little cars for children to ride to their surgery in has been named employee of the month at Royal Bolton Hospital.
Dr Carl Oakden was a junior doctor in anaesthetics at the time of his brain wave.
He noticed some children coming for surgery were very anxious.
After reading about a similar scheme in a medical journal Dr Oakden approached Porsche Bolton to see if they would donate cars.
Dr Oakden secured two cars for the hospital and the idea has been copied by other trusts in the country too.
