A MAN in his 50s has been airlifted to the Royal Bolton Hospital in a critical state after collapsing at David Lloyd gym in the town centre.

North West Ambulance Service's air ambulance was scrambled at 1pm after being alerted of a  'serious accident'  at the Chorley Street gym.

It landed in nearby Queens Park and two rapid response units and an ambulance also attended.

The Bolton News has been told there has been a serious accident in the gymnasium part of the complex which was closed to cutomers as a result.

A spokesman for David Lloyd Group said:  “We can confirm that one of our members collapsed at our club in Bolton today. The emergency services were called and the member was taken to hospital.


“Our thoughts are with the member and their family”
