AN EAST Lancashire town is home to one of the UK's cheapest streets with properties available to buy from as little as £15,500.

While the average property price in Burnley is around £165,923, on Hurtley Street near the town's Victoria Hospital, you can pick up a two-up two-down terrace house for as little as £15,500.

These findings, published following research by MoneySuperMarket, also revealed that Lancashire dominates the results for low prices, with four streets across the county featuring in the top 10 nationwide.

The other streets in Lancashire include Kingsland Grove in Burnley, where properties can be snapped up for as little as £16,000 with a 5 per cent deposit, along with North Street and Bradshaw Street in Nelson.

Sally Francis-Miles, a spokesperson for the company said: “Getting on the property ladder is an aspiration for many, but can seem like a pipe dream when you factor in how much you need to do it, especially in the UK’s most expensive areas.

“The property market has fluctuated in recent years, with escalating prices in some areas and decreases in others. Research also suggests that fewer people are taking out a mortgage3, possibly driven by the potential impact of Brexit on prices.
