PRIMARY school children will be taking their first trip to the capital after being granted over £500.
An Eatock Primary School teacher made a successful presentation at a Westhoughton Town Council on Monday to secure funding to take 34 children to London.
The school were £545.00 short in funding for the trip and also planned to fundraise.
The councillors showed their support and awarded the full amount of £545.00, with Councillor Bernadette Eckersley-Fallon saying: "Let's give these kids a day to remember."
The Year 6 class of the school in Westhoughton will be travelling by train and visiting all the tourist hotspots, including Shakespeare's Globe, the Tate Modern and Covent Garden.
Some of the students have never been to Manchester before, so this will be their first taste of a big city.
The council heard that young pupils have tried their hands at organising too, suggesting places to stop on their 14-hour, whistle-stop tour.
Councillor David Wilkinson said it is proof that "youngsters can be involved in a really complex project."
