A HOUSE burglary in the early hours of Friday morning led to around £3,000 worth of tools and electrical goods being stolen.

Kitchen fitter Andrew Peake was upstairs at the house he rents on Ledbury Street in Leigh at around 4.30am when he heard movement from downstairs.

The 35-year-old alerted the police and then went downstairs.

He discovered that power tools he uses for his job was missing from the kitchen. In the living room, a 40-inch TV, a laptop and a Playstation 4 with games were also gone.

Around £90 in cash, a watch and a speaker was taken too.

Dad-of-one Andrew said: "People like this are the scum of the world - lowest of the low.

"They have got in through the back kitchen windows with a screw driver by taking the beads out before removing the glass and climbing in.

"They removed the tap head so they could get in and out easily.

"The back door was also damaged which they must have tried to use.

"I now have to find £1,000 to replace these tools for work."

Andrew said his neighbours had told him that their property had been vandalised on the same night as well.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed no arrests have been made in connection with the incident and enquiries are ongoing.
