A MAN has died almost two weeks after being found with stab wounds at a house in Johnson Fold.

Paul Dickson died earlier today in hospital.

Police launched an investigation on Sunday, December 30 after reports that a man had been stabbed at a house on Montserrat Road.

Mr Dickson was taken to hospital in a critical condition. And police erected two tents — one in a front garden and the other over a vehicle in the street a short distance away near the junction with Tattersall Avenue.

A 34-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assault and has been bailed pending further enquiries.

Detectives say they are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and are appealing to anyone with information to contact police.

Detective Inspector Damian Threader, of GMP’s Bolton borough, said: “We are continuing our enquiries to establish exactly what happened that led to Paul losing his life and we have specially trained officers supporting his family at this heart-breaking time.

"Whilst we arrested a woman as part of our enquiries, our investigation is very much ongoing and I would urge anyone with any information that could help us piece together the circumstances of this incident to please get in touch."

At the time neighbours said how they were woken at around 1am by a woman who was screaming from the house opposite and saw a man stagger down the street and fall behind a white van.

Anyone with information should call police on 0161 856 5757 quoting incident number 94 of 30/12/2018, or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
