RESIDENTS have been invited to attend a celebration event to mark the redecoration of the archway at a Radcliffe church.

New lettering has been installed over the entrance that leads to the chancel at St Andrew’s Church, in St Andrew’s View.

The work was carried out as part of a £17,000 project which included repairs to the chancel after it suffered damage due to a leak from a water tank.

Members of the public, congregation and businesses, including Silletts Funeral Service, sponsored the individual letters to help the work go ahead.

The area around the altar has also been completely redecorated, and a new platform has been installed at the front of the church.

Rev Jo McKee said: "We have invited the whole community to our celebration service on Sunday.

"Individuals from our church family and the community have helped this work go ahead. Silletts also made a significant contribution and we are so grateful for their help with this project.

"The new lettering makes the whole front of the church look like it is cared for.

"We have also had a new platform installed at the front of the building. This is a fantastic provision which meant we were able to let the community use the space over Christmas, as well as for our own use.

"Please do come along on Sunday to celebrate with us."

St Andrew’s is hosting a celebration event at 6.30pm on Sunday, January 13 to mark the completion of the work.

The Bishop of Bolton Mark Ashcroft will be in attendance.

Refreshments will be available.
