BOLTON DJ Sara Cox thanked listeners as she finished her last ever stand-in slot on Radio 2's breakfast show this morning.

The former Smithills High and Canon Slade pupil was standing in for Chris Evans, who quit the show at the end of last year.

She has deputised for Evans on a number of occasions but will be moving to her own show, the Drivetime afternoon slot, taking over from Simon Mayo and Jo Whiley from Monday, January 14, and made it clear to listeners she would no longer be a breakfast show stand-in.

Zoe Ball will take over the breakfast show permanently from Monday, January 14.

Sara joked that listeners could "wake up with Ball and drive home with Cox".
