PROMOTING festive spirit among the community, a group of Muslims have come together to produce a video about why they love Christmas.

One Voice Blackburn’s video titled I’m A Muslim And I Love The Festive Period, features several members from the Muslim community talking about what they enjoy about the holiday season.

In the video, individuals including Cllr Saima Afzal talk about Christmas being a time for togetherness, as well as the warm atmosphere in all communities at this time of year.

Lancashire Telegraph:

The video will be primarily promoted on social media. It will also be sent to various agencies to promote cohesion in the Borough.

Chief Executive and Director of the video, Zaffer Khan, said: “It is important to challenge myths and perceptions that the festive period is not enjoyed by the Muslim community. The video highlights that this is a magical time of year for all communities.”

One Voice planned the project, which follows their Ramadan project earlier in the year I’m Not a Muslim But I Will Fast for One Day.

The Ramadan initiative has been running since 2014 and was recently awarded with a Highly Commended Award in a national marketing campaign.
