YOUNG football fans enjoyed an evening of festive fun and had the chance to meet some of the town’s stars.

Dozens of young people and their families turned out to the Lion of Vienna Suite at the University of Bolton Stadium for the annual Bolton Wanderers FC Juniors’ Christmas party.

Bolton captain David Wheater and fellow teammates Will Buckley, Pawel Olkowski, Sammy Ameobi and Remi Matthews, were on hand to make the experience a special one for visitors.

The players took part in a range of party games with the youngsters before taking their places for a signing session.

Fans were given the opportunity to take photos with the players and get their merchandise signed by the first team players.

Lofty the Lion and Lofty Junior also made appearances during the event, between 7pm and 9pm on Thursday.

Wanderers skipper Wheater said: "Myself and the lads really enjoyed ourselves at the BWFC Juniors’ Christmas Party — it’s always a good night at these events and I’ve been bringing my own children to them for the past couple of years because they have so much fun.

"There’s something for everyone and it was clear to see that everybody was having a good time. There was a brilliant turnout from the kids and it’s so nice to be able to put smiles on their faces.

"It’s fantastic that, after them seeing us out there on the pitch, we can meet them and get to know the youngsters who are the future of Bolton Wanderers’ fan base.

"On behalf of all the players meanwhile, we hope that Bolton Wanderers fans across the world have a very Merry Christmas."
