Emergency services were called to a bathroom fire in Accrington this evening.

Fire crews attended the incident at a terraced property in Albert Street at around 6.40pm.

A spokesperson for the fire service said: "Two fire engines were called to the scene and on arrival we found a small fire which was contained to the bathroom.

"Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus were sent into the building and the fire was extinguished using a hose reel.

"There was minimal damage to the property and nobody was hurt as a result."

Crews were detained at the incident for around one hour before the property was made secure.

The cause of the fire is now under investigation.
