YOU'RE never too young or old to get into the festive spirit.
And some of the youngest and oldest members of Tonge Moor's community enjoyed a special Christmas party.
Children and staff Moorgate Primary School organised a special party for local senior citizens with all the trimmings of a delicious Christmas lunch.
Twenty-five plus guests were invited to enjoy a festive buffet and a performance of the nativity by key stage one children.
Older children proved to be the perfect hosts by ensuring their guests were made to feel comfortable and given a sealed envelope.
At the end of the fun event, the guests opened their envelope to find a number which corresponded to a Christmas gift, which children helped present.
The Christmas party was funded by the Big Lottery's Big Local and Ambition for Ageing.
This is the second time Moorgate Primary has organised a meal for the community's senior citizens and because of its success, the school is hoping it to make a highlight of the festive season.
Headteacher Debbie Hopwood said: "This is a wonderful opportunity to continue our strong intergenerational links within the community. Our programme of events helps to build mutually respectful relationships between the pupils and our neighbours and our children thoroughly enjoy taking part.
"We would like to thank the Big Local Fund and Ambitions for Ageing for continuing to support the school with funding for these events."
