AN author is giving back to the three hospitals who have helped her to battle cancer.

Denise Lunt, of Longhurt Road, Hindley Green was given the all-clear from a rare form of blood cancer last year after receiving treatment from The Christie Centre Hospital in Manchester and the charity’s base in Wigan.

She fell over in her garden in 2015 and suffered a broken pelvis.

After being diagnosed with blood cancer, she was treated at Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital in Oswestry.

The grandmother-of-one released her first book Goodnight Mr Stone earlier this year with a percentage of money from sales being donated to the Manchester hospital.

It received rave reviews from around the world with copies selling as far as America, Canada and Australia.

Her second novel, Spring in Autumn, is a romance about a retired heart surgeon tuned businessman who meets a widow on a cruise show on his way home to America.

It will raise funds for the Oswestry hospital.

Denise, 74, who is dyslexic, said: “It is great to help the hospitals that have saved my life.

“I hope my story will also give inspiration to ladies like myself that have had cancer, and to dyslexic people.”

With the release of her first book, Denise fulfilled a lifelong dream of writing a novel.

She has been delighted with the feedback she has received about her new book.

Denise added: “The new book has already met with such a wonderful reception, which I hope will benefit the hospital it has been dedicated to.

“I am looking and feeling so much better, thanks to the love and help of those who are dedicated to their work.

“The hospital staff were so fabulous to me, so loving and caring.

“My three books will not be enough to thank them.”

Denise’s third book Goodbye My Soul, which is set in America and Italy, is set to be released next year with funds going to The Christie’s Wigan centre.
