As a 'Matilda Champion School', the Little Lever primary worked with professional directors and choreographers to create its own special version of the smash-hit musical, inspired by the Roald Dahl novel.

The final performance of Masefield's Matilda was on Tuesday night. Both parents and teachers were impressed with the show.

Teacher Laura Royle said: "What an amazing production!

"The children have worked extremely hard over the last term to put on an impressive performance of Matilda The Musical.

"It has been wonderful to see the children grow in confidence and we are so proud of them all."

The real stage show has just ended a successful run at Manchester's Palace Theatre.

Masefield students got the chance to see it for themselves.

Ms Royle said it "really inspired and motivated the Year 5 children."
