A man has had his feathers ruffled after discovering what he described as "faeces" at the end of his Sainsbury's Taste the Difference chicken.

Mutlu Mehmet, a chartered accountant from Bexley, told News Shopper that he received the 'foul' chicken from the Sainsbury's store in Stadium way, Crayford, last week as an exchange after the the first chicken he purchased "had a lump growing on it."

Mr Mehmet said that he has had to return a number of chickens to this particular store for the "best part of a year" as the ones he's bought have tended to emit a "terrible smell," even though he always buys from the Taste the Difference range.

He also told News Shopper that when he returns the chickens he is told that it will be reported to Sainsbury's head office, but has yet to receive any official correspondence from the supermarket chain regarding this issue.

"Something just needs to be done about this whole thing. I just don't want it to happen anymore," he said.

"We do not want to return this chicken to Sainsbury's as what usually happens is they offer a refund and then say it will be sent off to head office for investigation, which never amounts to anything.

"Still to this day I have never once been contacted about the issues we have had," he explained.

When contacted about the apparent 'foul-play', a spokesperson for Sainsbury's replied: "This does not reflect our usual high standards. We have apologised to Mutlu for his experience and are investigating with our supplier."

Mr Mehmet said he will most likely not be returning to this particular Sainsbury's and we can only imagine the whole ordeal has left him feeling 'poo'-rly
