A CAR crash caused extensive damage to a shop front after a vehicle rammed into it.
The incident left Spa Road closed from Mayor Street to New Holder Street while police and vehicle recovery teams removed the wreckage from the front of Magnet Kitchens.
The crash involved a Vauxhall Astra and a BMW, which collided at around 7.30pm tonight (Sunday).
Witnesses said no ambulances attended the incident and nobody is believed to be hurt, although it is thought that the driver of at least one of the vehicles fled the scene after the accident.
The incident also caused the junction between Spa Road and Mayor Street to be close on the opposite side to the kitchen shop while recovery vehicles worked.
At 9.25pm workers were on site to begin to repair the shop front which appeared to have been left with glass panels broken and the metal door of the shop bent out of shape.
