A GARAGE owner in Bolton has labelled the justice system ‘useless’ after a man who burgled him of cash and ‘irreplaceable’ images was sentenced .

His remarks followed the jailing at Bolton Crown Court of crack cocaine addict Mark Goodram, 35, of Rowena Street, who stole more than £8,000, a passport, personal documents, bank books, a camcorder and a mobile phone from J&A Motors, All Saints Street, Bolton, in the early hours of August 4,

Garage owner Adam Czutkowna, was in court to hear the sentence of eight months' imprisonment for that burglary given out.

Seperately, Goodram, was also sentenced to a further three months’ imprisonment for the burglary at the Higher Bridge Street branch of Aldi on August 7, handling stolen goods, possession of a BB gun in Bromwich Street and absconding from court.

The court heard that Goodram was only tracked down for the garage burglary through a DNA match after leaving blood around a window and on a car inside the premises.

Prosecuting Charlotte Cringle told the court that Goodram had 22 convictions for 45 offences including a number for burglaries of dwellings and businesses and had absconded from the court building on September 20.

He went on the run for more than a fortnight before being arrested by police on Bromwich Street where he was in possession of another person’s stolen bank cards and the air gun.

Defence barrister Darren Preston described Goodram’s record as a ‘catalogue of offending which had been made worse by his addiction to crack cocaine

“The one thing that can be said is that the burglaries at the garage and Aldi were unsophisticated in the extreme, in which he entered the garage premises spraying blood everywhere, and using socks to prevent his fingerprints being detected at the supermarket, which resulted in him dropping bottles of spirit he was stealing onto the floor.”

Speaking after the sentencing, Mr Czutkowna said: “I am really disappointed that he did not get a longer sentence. He absolutely ransacked the garage premises and even stole the Bolton Hospice charity box, which we collect for.

“I am having to take the loss because the insurance won’t pay for money stolen on the premises from a safe.

“However, if you gave me £10,000, it would not replace the pictures and images we lost of my late mother Helen, which were on the camera and are irreplaceable.

“I think the justice system is useless.”
