Five things to do in Bolton this weekend

The Bolton Light Festival is in town this weekend. Explore the library and museum after hours and try to solve a series of puzzles using light, imagination and codebreaking skills to find the answers. Doors open on Saturday, November 17 at 6pm until 7.30pm. Entry is free, but tickets must be booked via Eventbrite.

An Evening with Sir Geoff Hurst

World Cup winner Sir Geoff Hurst will be holding a very special 'An Evening With' at Macron Stadium on 17 November. England's hat-trick hero in 1966 will be talking about his career and the final itself. The evening is being hosted at the Bolton Whites Hotel on Saturday evening, with tickets starting from £55.

Christmas Markets at Curley’s Dining Room

The Christmas Markets at Curley’s Dining Room will take place this year on Saturday, November 17 from 10am-6pm. There will be around 25 market stalls selling a range of products such as candles, home gifts, skincare and make up stalls. There’s Santa Clause and a Grotto, Christmas tree light switch on, outside bar selling mulled wine, a BBQ, a raffle & tombola, and a brass band. Admission is free, and the event is hosted at Curley’s Dining Room on Old Chorley Road.

Cinema at The Crescent Screening

This month at Cinema at the Crescent watch — 'The Son of Bigfoot', where a teenage boy journeys to find his missing father only to discover that he's actually Bigfoot. Light refreshments will be for sale, and children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. This is a free event with no need to book, and is taking place at the Bolton Library on Saturday at 2pm.

Charity Dog Walk

Hosted by Terra Nova Working Newfoundlands, a charity dog walk is being held in Lever Country Park on Sunday. Participants should meet at the top barn car park on Rivington Lane at 10.30am, with the walk starting at 11am. The group is raising funds for welfare dogs. The event is free, although a donation of around £5 is encouraged.
