A stone, hidden in Barrow Bridge as part of the First World War Centenary by school children, has found its way to New York City.
Pupils at Youth Challenge Primary school took part in a project inspired by #rammyrocks, which involves decorating and hiding stones around the local community for others to find, whereupon they are hidden at a new location.
The project was originally linked to the wedding of Prince Harry and Megan Markle where pupils decorated commemorative rocks and hid them in the local area.
Jacqui Latham, a teacher at Youth Challenge Primary, said
“This November we decided to try again with 100 rocks decorated to commemorate the centenary, pupils from Youth Challenge Secondary school also joined in and rocks were hidden around the local area as well as near the Cenotaph in Bolton”
“We used twitter to promote what we were doing and have had a lot of tweets to say the rocks have been found.”
Staff and pupils then received a tweet from @taylorp_1962 in Central Park, New York, to say a rock that was hidden by a pupil from Youth Challenge Primary had made it all the way there.
