A MAN has been arrested after crashing into an empty bus during a police chase in Burnley yesterday.

The chase started on Hurtley Street and after a three-minute pursuit it crashed into a lamp post and then into the unattended bus on Briercliffe Road.

A 22-year-old man was later arrested for being disqualified and dangerous driving and has been released on police bail.

Insp Chris Valentine of Burnley Police said: “It was a 3.05pm yesterday when an officer pursued a Black VW Golf then it crashed into a bus.

"Two people ran off from the vehicle and then the secure dog unit arrested a man 20 minutes later.

"The car had hit a lampost and then into the bus which was parked the road.

"The road was closed while the vehicle was recovered.

"We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage to get in touch PC92 Cottam.

"If anyone has more information contact the police using the log number of 0739 on November 14."
