LOOK out for hundreds of Santas, elves and rein-dogs on the horizon later this month when Bolton Hospice holds its annual Hike the Pike fundraiser.

It is only two weeks until supporters of Bolton Hospice will take to the hills in their Santa suits and Hike the Pike to raise vital funds.

Starting from Curley’s Restaurant and Dining Rooms in Horwich on November 24, walkers will make their way to and fro Rivington Pike on an enjoyable five mile stroll.

Sponsorship money will be used to support the hospice and the crucial services it provides to local people with terminal and end of life conditions.

One person taking part is Jillian Davies, whose father is currently attending the hospice day therapy sessions one day a week.

“My dad has a nasty condition called Progressive Supra Nuclear Palsy," she explained.

"He has been lucky enough to get a place one day per week at the hospice day therapy centre. All the staff are wonderful and it feels like they can’t do enough to help.

"My dad looks forward to this day and it is a huge relief to his family knowing he is being cared for.”

Hike the Pike is also a special way of remembering loved ones and heart-shaped baubles, in which you place a photograph and a message of your choice to hang on a special memorial tree at Curleys on the day, are on sale.

There is still time to get involved in the hike, which is suitable for the entire family to take part in. To register please visit https://www.boltonhospice.org.uk/event/hospice-events/hike-pike-2018 or call 01204 663055.
