A COMMUNITY organisation is seeking people to stand as Independent candidates in May's local elections.
The Clitheroe Residents Action Group has proposed the move to challenge sitting Ribble Valley Borough Conservative councillors.
The party currently controls the council despite the defection of five of its members to form a separate Democratic Conservative group who the ruling group due to dissatisfaction its leader Cllr Ken Hind.
CRAG chairman Steve Rush said: "We are suggesting residents across the Ribble Valley should consider supporting Independent candidates at next year’s Council elections.
"This can be achieved by standing for election as an Independent, helping deliver leaflets or any other form of support.
The aim is to depose some of the current Conservative Councillors, especially in Clitheroe.
We will obviously need candidates, but we will also need help and support.
"We are looking to provide an umbrella for people to gather under."
