THIS week’s mystery photograph is captured along the normally busy A6.
At the time when this picture was taken this route was the main thoroughfare by coaches and vehicles from Manchester and the surrounds, who would travel on to towns including Blackburn, Preston and Blackpool, particularly during cotton holidays.
The solution will be in next week’s newspaper and we will name the person who gets the location correct.
Meanwhile, none of our readers correctly identified our last mystery photograph, which showed the lights of mill buildings and the silhouette of chimney at Brownlow Fold, Bolton, as reflected across the reservoir at Halliwell. The photograph was taken in April, 1949.
