A DISABLED University of Bolton graduate has been offered the possibility of work after The Bolton News revealed how she had applied unsuccessfully for around 400 jobs since graduating last summer.

26-year-old Michalina Puskarczyk, who was born with cerebral palsy and has used an electric wheelchair since being young, said that despite being invited for several interviews, her chances seem to unravel once she has informed employers of her disability.

But, after reading her story, a number of employers have been in touch with Ms Puskarczyk, both directly and via The Bolton News, to offer her the prospect of work.

Bolton firm AO.com were among the first to invite her along to discuss her skills, and see if they have any roles that may suit, while she has also been offered a job by Solita owner Francesco Sotgiu’s company Chesterfields of England, and an apprenticeship with Horwich-based Alliance Learning.

Ms Puskarczyk said she had been overwhelmed by the reaction, and added: “People have been so supportive.

“People have been saying they want to get to know me and talk about my skills, and that is what I want, for people talk to me about my skills.

“I was worried about going to the newspaper, but I thought I had to do it to raise awareness of the issues I have been going through.

“I am going to take any opportunity people will give me because I know it isn’t easy to get a job.”
