Third drink drive offence

A WOMAN caught drink driving for a third time has been given a suspended prison sentence.

Bolton magistrates heard how Naneeka Campbell, aged 40, of Winchester Way, Breightmet, had no licence or insurance when she drove a Honda Civic on Winchester Way on September 24.

The court was told that the mother-of-three had drunk more than twice the legal alcohol limit and had a passenger in the vehicle at the time.

Campbell pleaded guilty to driving while banned, drink driving, having no insurance and possessing cannabis.

She was sentenced to 16 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months and banned from applying for a licence for four years.

She must also participate in 25 days of rehabilitation activities and pay £215 in costs and charges.

Fined for begging

A VAGRANT caught begging on Marsden Road, Bolton, on August 14 has been fined £50 by Bolton Magistrates.

The case against Gary Stevenson, aged 40, of Gregson Field, Great Lever, was proved in his absence.

In addition to the fine, Stevenson was ordered to pay £115 towards prosecution costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Proved in absence

MAGISTRATES have fined a man £50 after he was caught begging outside Home Bargains in Bolton Retail Park, Trinity Street on June 7.

The case against Anthony Newall, aged 43, of Blackbank Street, Bolton, was proved in his absence at Bolton Magistrates’ Court.

Newall was also ordered to pay a £30 surcharge.

Unpaid work for assaults

MAGISTRATES have ordered a man to do 70 hours of unpaid work after he admitted assaulting a man and a woman on January 19.

Ismail Atcha, aged 34, of Knightswood, Bolton, pleaded guilty to committing the offences.

He was ordered to pay £485 in costs and a restraining order was made banning him from contacting his victims.

Stole charity box

A MAN who burgled a hairdressers’ and stole a charity box has been sentenced to 12 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months.

Bolton magistrates heard how Daniel Gibson, aged 40, of no fixed address, stole the box from Ashberry Hairdressers on August 18.

He was also ordered to pay £295 in compensation.

Assaulted a woman

A WOMAN who committed assault has been sentenced to do 100 hours unpaid work by Bolton magistrates.

Andrea Bryant, aged 36, of The Welland, Westhoughton, pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman on July 5 and possessing two snap bags of cocaine.

Bryant was ordered to pay her victim £250 in compensation and she must participate in 20 days of rehabilitation activities.

Magistrates told her also has to pay £100 towards prosecution costs.

The cocaine was forfeited and destroyed.

Shop ban man jailed

A MAN who ignored a criminal behaviour order banning him from shops in Bolton town centre has been jailed for 16 weeks.

At Bolton Magistrates’ Court Derek Leach, aged 47, of Rawsthorne Street, Halliwell, pleaded guilty to breaking the order on October 6 and 8.

He also admitted stealing alcohol worth £180 from Sainsburys and stationery valued at £150 from Rymans.

The court heard he committed the first of the offences only four days after he had been released from custody.

Begging outside bakery

A MAN caught begging outside the Pound Bakery in Market Street on August 23 has been sentenced to a conditional discharge for 12 months by Bolton magistrates.

Anthony Moran, aged 54, of Rupert Street, Bolton, pleaded guilty to committing the offence and was also ordered to pay £105 in costs and charges.

Breach of the peace

A MAN who admitted causing a breach of the peace on October 9 has appeared before Bolton magistrates.

Louis Moore, aged 35, of Ramsay Avenue, Farnworth, was bound over to keep the peace, especially towards a woman, for six months.

Magistrates told him that if he does not he will forfeit the sum of £50.

Woman failed to provide breath sample

MAGISTRATES have fined a woman £120 after she admitted failing, without a reasonable excuse, to provide a breath specimen when in charge of a vehicle. Tracy Sheridan, aged 44, of Grosvenor Street, Kearsley, committed the offence on September 30. In addition she was ordered to pay £115 in costs and charges and was given 10 penalty points.

Jailed for 16 weeks

A WOMAN who assaulted another woman and damaged her coffee table has been jailed for 16 weeks.

At Manchester Magistrates’ Court Ashley Dalley, aged 30, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to committing two assaults on the woman and damaging her furniture at her home in Bolton on October 8.

In addition to the prison sentence she was ordered to pay a £115 victim surcharge.

Magistrates made a restraining order banning Dalley from contacting her victim directly, or indirectly.

She is also prohibited from entering Thomas Holden Street, Bolton, or driving along the street, for two years.

Conditional discharge after assaults

A MAN who assaulted two people in Farnworth on June 22 has been sentenced to a conditional discharge for two years by Bolton magistrates.

Nathan Whitton, aged 20, of Hardie Avenue, Farnworth, pleaded guilty to committing the offences. He was also ordered to pay £320 in costs and a restraining order was made banning him from contacting his victims.

Guilty of shoplifting

MAGISTRATES have ordered a man to do 150 hours of unpaid work after he was found guilty of shoplifting.

The court heard how Janos Horvath, aged 50, of Egerton Street, Bolton, stole perfume, worth £147, from Boots in Blackburn on July 27 2015. He denied the offence but was convicted after a trial.

He must also pay £535 in costs and a victim surcharge.

Tagged curfew

A SHOPLIFTER has been sentenced to an electronically tagged 7pm to 7am curfew for 16 weeks after he admitted stealing a shaver, worth £150, from Boots and assaulting a woman on June 22.

In addition Lee Kay, aged 30, of Haydock Street, Bolton, was ordered to pay £100 compensation and £170 in costs and charges.

Man jailed for 10 months

MAGISTRATES have jailed a man for 10 months after he was found guilty of committing assault on April 30.

Ahmad Bhana, aged 30, of Crumpsall Street, Bolton, had denied committing the offence but the court heard he committed the offence while already subject to a suspended prison sentence.

Bhana initially denied using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour but then changed his plea to guilty.

He must pay a £115 victim surcharge and a restraining order was made banning contact with his victim.

Attack was racially aggravated

A MAN who committed a racially aggravated attack on another man and a woman has been sentenced to 16 weeks in prison suspended for 18 months.

Mohammed Khan, aged 20, of Roland Road, Bolton, pleaded guilty to committing the assaults on May 17 and using threatening behaviour.

He was electronically tagged and is subject to a 16 week curfew. Khan must also pay a total of £650 in compensation and costs and a restraining order was made banning him from contacting his victims.

Shoplifter stole fragrances

A SHOPLIFTER who twice stole fragrances worth more than £440 from a department store has been banned from town centre shops.

At Bolton Magistrates’ Court Sean Finn, aged 36, of Rogerstead, Deane, pleaded guilty to taking the items from Debenhams on June 1 and 2.

Finn was made subject to a criminal behaviour order prohibiting him from going into the retail premises for two years.

Drink driver took mum's car

A DRINK driver who caused damage after a Peugeot 206 was taken without consent has been handed a suspended prison sentence.

Bolton magistrates heard how Brian Davidson, aged 34, of Alder Close, Breightmet, took his mother’s car on January 9, without her permission, and hit other cars.

He pleaded guilty to committing the offence as well as drink driving on Thicketford Road, driving without due care and attention and breaching a restraining order.

He was sentenced to four weeks in prison, suspended for 18 months, ordered to undertake 100 hours of unpaid work as well as 15 days of rehabilitation activities.

He was also banned from driving for three years and must pay £800 compensation plus £200 in costs and charges.

Man damaged mobile phone

A MAN who assaulted a woman and damaged her mobile phone has been sentenced to a conditional discharge for 12 months by Bolton magistrates.

Mark Haslam, aged 32, of Eden Street, Bolton, pleaded guilty to committing the offences and was ordered to pay £55 in compensation.

Shoplifter stole alcohol

A MAN who handled bottles of whisky and vodka, worth £190, which were stolen from Aldi, has been sentenced to a 6pm to 6am electronically tagged curfew for 10 weeks.

Paul Denton, aged 51, of The Croft, Haydock Street, Bolton, pleaded guilty to committing the offence on August 13. He was also ordered to pay £185 in costs and charges.

Burglar stole vacuum cleaner

A BURGLAR who stole a vacuum cleaner and cash from the Bodywise Gym in Gladstone Road, Bolton, on September 12 has been jailed for 18 weeks.

At Bolton Magistrates’ Court Mark Evans, aged 43, of Oakfield Grove, Farnworth, pleaded guilty to committing the offence.

The court heard that Evans has a history of failing to comply with community -based sentences.

Evans was also ordered to pay £370 in compensation.

Stole phone from Argos

A CONDITIONAL discharge for 12 months has been handed to a man found guilty of stealing a mobile phone, worth £379, from Argos, on October 10 2016.

Daniel Sherlock, aged 26, of Masefield Road, Little Lever, had denied committing the offence but was found guilty by Bolton magistrates. He must pay £640 in costs and charges.

Thief is electronically tagged

A THIEF who stole £55 cash and damaged a woman’s window has been electronically tagged.

At Bolton Magistrates’ Court Jamie Badley, aged 27, of West Way, Bolton, pleaded guilty to committing the offences.

He also pleaded guilty to a series of shoplifting offences and stealing petrol.

Badley was sentenced to a month-long curfew from 7pm to 7am and must also participate in 30 days of rehabilitation activities.

He was also ordered to pay a total of £756 in compensation.

The court made a restraining order banning Badley from contacting his victim or going to a property on West Way, Bolton.
