It’s the beginning of the South London & Kent Pool Alliance winter season and champions of the summer season’s Elite League, Allstars have started where they finished off, at the top of the Premier Division.

In their first season together, Allstars completed a clean sweep of trophies, with their players winning the pairs, singles and sudden death singles competitions, as well as the team securing the league title.

They have shown their intent to carry on their winning streak this season, with an, 11-4 triumph over Hustlers.

Allstars have added a new star to their team, with Jamie Simmons winning all three of his frames and he was joined by the summer season’s brightest star, the top ranked player in the division, Stacy Redman.

It looks like Allstars will be renewing their battle with Hotshots, who finished second in the summer season’s Elite League and they join Allstars at the top of the initial Premier Division table, with their own, 11-4 triumph over division new boys, Sharks.

Sharks have earned back to back promotions over recent seasons and they started well against the top division stalwarts, taking the first frame but they are going to find it tough, as Hotshots won the next four, including break and dishes from Danny Kelliher and Tony Wilson.

The second set started with two frame wins for Sharks, bringing it back to, 4-3 but Kelliher produced another fine clearance and Andre Cox and Neil Hall also won to give Hotshots the set and a, 7-3 lead going into the final set.

Again, Hotshots lost the opening frame of the set but Kelliher and Cox both made it personal three out of threes and Hall was also unbeaten with two frame wins, on their way to the triumph.

The Eltham Terrace derby between Rovers and Eltham Terrace Club A was closer than the, 9-6 score suggested.

Eltham Terrace Club A took each set by the odd frame, 3-2 and had Ben McIntosh winning all three of his frames but Ryan Francis did the same for Rovers, which included a break and dish in the first set and team mate, Chris Hobbis cleared from a dry break in the last set.

Pickwick join Terrace A on nine points after they beat another team from the Terrace, Nuthouse by nine frames to six.

Nuthouse took the first set, 3-2 but Pickwick replied by winning the second set by the same score.

Pickwick won the first frame of the last set to take the led for only the second time in the match and they didn’t look back, taking four of the last five frames.

Trevor Biggs won two out of two on his debut for the Nuthouse but Paul Dawson went one better with a hat-trick on his second return to the Pickwick side.

New Eltham took the first frame against Rugrats but that was their only one of the set, with Rugrats taking the next four however, New Eltham fought back and whitewashed the next set to take a, 6-4 lead into the final set.

The last set was much closer, swinging both ways, with Rugrats eventually taking it, 3-2 but it wasn’t enough to stop New Eltham running out, 8-7 victors.

11-4 was a popular score this week, as New Eltham Club from the SLKPA first division also scored that against CSC Sorry in Advance.

I don’t know what they’re sorry for but maybe it’s the fact that they only had four players but despite that they only lost the first set, 3-2.

They went on to take the first frame of the second set, to tie the match at three all but they fell apart after that, with New Eltham Club winning the next eight frames before CSC took the last frame.

Graham Levingbird won his only frame for the victors but team mates Shane Burnett and Paul Cobbold went all the way with maximum three out of three wins.

Both Hotshots and Allstars went to the top of the table with their, 11-4 triumphs but it wasn’t enough foe New Eltham Club to top Division One, as Rose Inn went one better, with a, 12-3 victory over Bellegrove A.

Rose Inn just had too much for Bellegrove, with Dean Greany-Parr and Leighton Aston top scoring with three frame wins each.

It was a solid performance from Academicals, who lost the first two frames against Eltham Terrace Rack Pack but they ended up, 10-5 winners.

Gary Mason top scored for Academicals with three frame wins and he was supported by Kevin England, Tony Gear and Chris Bracey, who all recorded a brace.

Fox & Hounds won the first frame against Crayford Arms but capitulated, losing the next eight frames, giving Crayford the victory before the end of the second set.

It was, 8-2 going into the final set and Crayford extended that to, 10-2 with frames eleven and twelve but Fox took the last three frames to make the score a more respectable, 10-5.

Neil Shelton kept Fox in the game, winning both of his frames, as did Harry Lear for Crayford but Ian Stringer went one better with an unbeaten hat-trick.

Another team winning, 11-4 was Bexleyheath Working Mans Club, beating Real Hustlers to go top of SLKPA Division Two.

Both of the other games in the division had an, 8-7 score, with New Eltham Social Club edging the New Eltham derby against New Eltham New Boys and Lord Kitchener got off to a winning start against Happy Hustlers.
