LANTERNS will light up the streets of Bury when fundraisers turn out to remember their loved ones who are living with and beyond cancer.

Bury Cancer Support Centre is hosting its second annual Lantern Memory Walk at 7pm on Friday, October 12.

Residents are invited to participate in a three-mile circular walk, starting and finishing at Bury Cancer Support Centre.

Walkers are asked to bring battery-operated lanterns, attaching messages to these if desired, and to wear high-visible clothing.

Arrowed signs and course marshals will guide walkers around the paved route.

A range of rock music from across the generations will be provided at the Centre by 3 EARS band, starring Steve Ferringo and Mick Kiernan.

At the end of the event, at about 10.30pm, participants will be able to enjoy a bacon sandwich, or vegetarian option, on the barbecue.

It costs £10 per adult to take part, or £3 per child, with tickets including a glow band and refreshments. A family ticket is also available for £20, payable by cash or cheque. Children under five go free. Dogs can also take part, at no cost.

To enter, visit the centre in Bolton Road, Bury, or email burycancersupportcentre@hotmail.co.uk.
