POLICE officers had to step in and help a pedestrian after he became lost on the motorway on his way to an interview.

The prospective employee was spotted walking on the M60 after taking a wrong turn.

Officers at Greater Manchester Police's traffic division said he was picked up near to Junction 13 for Swinton and Worsley.

The patrols had been driving to another job when they noticed the pedestrian on the hard shoulder.

Police explained the dangers of walking on the motorway and handed the man a Traffic Offence Report (TOR).

But then carried out a good deed and ensured the pedestrian was on time for his job interview.

GMP Traffic tweeted this morning: "En route to another job on the motorway and was hard shoulder running a/c M60 near jct 13 when I came across a pedestrian.

"Motorways are not for pedestrians its extremely dangerous TOR issued.

"He was on his way for a job interview and got lost I dropped him off so he wasn't late."
