A GRANT of more than £300,000 has been awarded to a football charity.

Burnley FC in the Community has now received a grant of £329,777 by the Football Foundation to support their programmes in the area.

The funds will go towards constructing a new floodlit third generation artificial grass pitch, with a spectator area and associated pathway.

The grant comes from the Premier League and The FA Facilities Fund, which is supported by the Premier League, the FA and Government-backed Sport England.

Pendle MP Andrew Stephenson has joined in the celebrations and said: "I have been supporting Burnley FC in the Community as they have some really exciting plans for our area. This latest award rewards and recognises their vision for improving sporting facilities in and around Pendle.”

The announcement of the new grant comes just weeks after the official charity of Burnley FC finally opened the doors to Burnley Community Kitchen at Charter Walk shopping centre last month.

Burnley FC in the Community is also hosting a one-night sleepout at Turf Moor stadium next month, on October 12, as part of the charity’s first ever Turf Sleepout fundraising event. To take part register via https://bookonline.burnleyfccommunity.org/turf_sleepout_registration
