A NINE-YEAR-OLD girl continued to make waves in the fashion world by strutting her stuff at one of the industry’s biggest events.

Lexi Griffin has just returned home to Blackburn after taking part in a show more than 3,000 miles away during New York Fashion Week.

The event attracted all of the world’s top designers and stars including Rihanna, Kate Moss, Nicky Minaj and Kate Beckinsale.

Lexi was selected out of hundreds of children by designer Debbie Holden to represent Camellia Couture, a luxury children’s brand specialising in custom-fitted clothing.

Lexi jetted off to America for the second time last week, just months after she performed on the runway at New York’s Cosmopolitan Top Model event.

Her mother, Sonya Griffin, of Livesey, said her daughter never lost her stride during the US show and she was so proud of her.

Over three days, from September 7 to September 9, the Meadowhead Junior School pupil performed in front of hundreds of people and more than 70 photographers wearing different collections by Debbie Holden, including her Blush With Pink collection.

Mum-of-two, Sonya, 32, said: “I am not sure who was more nervous, her or me, because the runway platform itself is huge, and can look quite intimidating for any child to walk on, and being surrounded with an audience of hundreds of people with so many photographers and media present.

“When she first walked out, I thought, 'Wow, that’s my girl.'

“She stood strong, and she just did her thing, walked the catwalk, she was solid, she walked great, and she didn’t lose her stride.

“It has been an amazing few days. I am so proud of her.”

Lexi, who has been modelling since the age of seven, said her inspiration was Kate Moss. She told her mother: “One day I want to be like Kate Moss, it's who I look up to. Kate Moss is my queen.”

She will be walking once again at the House of Ikons during London Fashion Week, which is being held at the Millennium Gloucester Hotel.

She will be modelling for two designers Be Unique Be You and Italian designer Korn Taylor.

Held over two days, the show sees 28 designers from around the world descend on London, and will include men’s, women’s and children's wear.
