AN investigation has been launched after a car fire in Accrington.

One engine from Hyndburn was called to the incident on Persia Street at 3.38am where a BMW car was on fire.

Crew manager Stuart Roxburgh said: "Firefighters used one hose reel to extinguish the fire which is believed to have been started deliberately.

"No-one was hurt during the incident."

A Lancashire Police spokesman said: "We got a call at 3.39am of reports of a vehicle on fire on the street.

"We are treating it as suspicious and will be investigating.

"Anyone with information should contact us by reporting the log number of 127 on September 13."
