THEY became hot favourites when they showcased their culinary skills on two of television's most popular cookery programmes.

Now Great British Bake Off 2014 finalist, Luis Troyano and Masterchef 2015 winner, Simon Wood will be in Bolton as they enter "Crompton Kitchen" as part of the bank holiday's food and drink festival.

This year, Crompton Place Shopping Centre and Market Place Shopping Centre will be hosting special foodie events featuring celebrity chefs and TV champions.

"Crompton Kitchen" will be staging free live cooking demonstrations between 11am and 3pm each day, with sun-drenched flavours coming from across Europe, Asia, South America and the West Indies.

On Saturday, Luis will be the compere for a special food journey as Mancunian chef, Rob Owen Brown, Masterchef 2015 winner, Simon Wood, and the team from Bella Italia serving up dishes from Italy.

On Sunday Granada TV presenter Paul Crone, will host a South American adventure where bakery boss, David Smart of Greenhalgh’s will share his passion for pastry, while the culinary whizzes at Chiquito bring the heat, with traditional tastes from Mexico.

Youtube star, Rosie Dummer ­— known as Rosie Cake Diva ­— will be the MC for the final day where Bolton-born chef, Mike Harrison will whip taste buds into a frenzy, with local restaurateurs showcasing mouth-watering Indian and Caribbean menus packed with spices and sunshine.

She will be unveiling her special Bolton Food and Drink Festival Cake at the Market Place on the opening day of the festival.

Crompton Kitchen will also cater to little chefs with different workshops everyday ­— including creating their own pizza, Mexican-style salsa and tortilla chips are the specials for Sunday, and Monday wraps up with sessions on how to make coconut sweet treats.

The atmosphere is wonderful and there’s nothing better than seeing everyone having a great time eating and enjoying a drink together."

Award-winning cake artist, Rosie, who is starring in Channel 4's Extreme Cakes Makers TV Show, will be unveiling her spectacular cake designed to to look like a mummy in a gold sarcophagus

She will be at the centre on Friday.

Celebrity chef Michael Caines will also be there.

Nikki Wilson-Cook, centre manager at Market Place said: “We’re extremely excited about this year’s Bolton Food and Drink Festival which promises to be bigger and better than ever before.

"The event draws in thousands of people from across the region, so it is great to be able to contribute to that and add another dimension to people’s visit to the event.

Children will be able to interact with a golden eagle character, and a mummy shrouded in bandages will be posing for pictures for the ultimate Egyptian themed selfie.

Bolton Museum will be hosting sand and water excavations and kids craft workshops, where children can make masks and keyrings to take home at the shopping centre.

They will also be running interactive storytelling, where children can completely immerse themselves in a time when Pharaohs ruled.

Caffe Dolce will be getting into the spirit of the event and will unveil a pyramid made exclusively of scones on Friday, August 24.

The Light will also be showing one of the Mummy films across the weekend in The Vaults so visitors can truly be drawn into the spirit of Egyptian life.
